SafeSky helps drone operators strengthen their SORA air risk mitigation by providing real-time situational awareness and evidence-based support for safer operations in mixed airspace.
Integrated directly into DJI FlightHub 2 and compatible platforms
SORA (Specific Operations Risk Assessment) is the EASA/JARUS framework for obtaining operational authorisations for drone operations in the "Specific" category, including BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) operations.
SORA provides a structured methodology to assess and mitigate both ground risk and air risk. The process is structured around three operational layers: a strategic pre-flight assessment, tactical in-flight mitigation, and operational feedback after each mission.
Operations are classified by their SAIL level (I through VI), which determines the rigour of safety requirements. Most commercial BVLOS operations target SAIL II, III, or IV.
Strategic: airspace characterisation
Historical traffic analysis and evidence-based data to support pre-flight airspace assessment and ARC justification
Tactical: real-time traffic monitoring
Live traffic awareness from 30+ sources, supporting ConOps mitigation measures and M2 tactical compliance
Operational Feedback: post-flight review
Mission debrief, anomaly documentation, and continuous improvement of risk assessments across successive operations
SafeSky supports compliance efforts. Approval decisions remain with your National Aviation Authority.
SafeSky provides structured, evidence-based support across all three layers of the SORA framework, helping operators build a coherent safety case. Approval decisions remain with your National Aviation Authority.
At the strategic level, SafeSky provides an evidence-based characterisation of the airspace environment around your Area of Operation. This replaces generic assumptions with measured data, helping operators move beyond conservative estimates when building their SORA submission.
Identification of nearby airspace structures (CTR, TMA, aerodromes)
Historical traffic analysis over a defined period
Quantification of traffic density, altitude distribution, and encounter probability
Detection of seasonal and time-based traffic patterns
This data informs decisions such as time-window restrictions, altitude limits, and conservative mission design. Seasonal peaks, for example between May and September, can be identified and used to justify operational boundaries.

Real-time traffic
Live airspace monitoring and real-time traffic detection animation
SORA requires operators to demonstrate their ability to detect and react to air traffic during operations. SafeSky directly supports this tactical layer, integrating with the tools you already use. Rather than requiring a separate monitoring workflow, SafeSky brings live traffic awareness directly into your existing mission control platform, including DJI FlightHub 2 and compatible systems.
Live monitoring of cooperative traffic in the operational vicinity
Identification of potential conflicts in real time
Integration with remote control centres and onboard mission control tools
Documentation of predefined mitigation procedures: visual observers, immediate descent and landing
The report covers tactical mitigations such as visual observers, descent procedures, and real-time monitoring. This satisfies SORA's requirement for dynamic risk mitigation during flight, not just pre-flight planning.
Beyond planning and execution, SORA acknowledges the importance of post-operation feedback and continuous improvement. SafeSky helps operators close the safety loop by reviewing what actually happened during each mission, compared with what was planned.
Storage and replay of traffic data for mission debrief
Comparison between planned and actual traffic conditions
Systematic anomaly identification and reporting
Risk assumptions refined over time as operational data accumulates
Each operation informs the next. Traffic observations build a local knowledge base, making future SORA assessments more accurate and grounded in real experience from your Area of Operation.

Post-operation reports and continuous improvement
SafeSky connects Strategic, Tactical, and Operational elements into one consistent safety argument across the full operational lifecycle.
Operators can present a cohesive picture to their National Aviation Authority, covering pre-flight airspace characterisation, in-flight monitoring, and post-operation review. All supported by the same underlying data platform.
When existing network coverage is insufficient for your Area of Operation, deploying dedicated ground stations provides the additional surveillance data needed to support your SORA air risk mitigation case.
In some Areas of Operation, existing surveillance and community coverage may be insufficient to support new BVLOS corridors or achieve the desired level of redundancy for air risk mitigation.
SafeSky can deploy dedicated ground stations to capture signals from multiple aviation technologies, improving coverage and helping to provide evidence for SORA submissions.

Drone operators are using SafeSky as part of their BVLOS operations and authorization processes
Norwegian autonomous delivery company building BVLOS network across Scandinavia, integrating SafeSky as part of their SORA SAIL III operations.
"The SafeSky platform plays a critical role in helping us maintain safety and compliance while scaling our services."

SafeSky does not replace certified detect-and-avoid systems but enhances situational awareness as part of a layered risk mitigation strategy under SORA.
SafeSky supports SORA Specific Category operations by providing traffic detection, dynamic alerting, and optional electronic conspicuity capabilities that contribute to M2 tactical mitigation. Using SafeSky does not guarantee flight authorisation or regulatory approval. Final compliance responsibility remains with the operator. All BVLOS operations require approval from your National Aviation Authority, who will assess your complete SORA submission according to their requirements.
